AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMP IN NEW-BUILD LEIGH, KENT
The customer was having a new house built which required a new heating system.
At the beginning the architect had specified an Oil-fired boiler, with underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor. We explained that an air source heat pump would provide much better results than the original oil system.
Our recommendation to the customer was for an air source heat pump with underfloor heating to the ground and first floors. The client voiced common misconceptions surrounding air source heat pumps, including whether it would provide enough hot water for the house. We reassured her that this was far from the truth, and she was extremely pleased when she discovered that her new air source heating system worked even better than her old oil system.
We installed a Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump, a 300-litre unvented hot water cylinder and fully zoned underfloor heating to ground and first floors. Following this we batterned and insulated between first-floor joists then laid a screed infill.
Plumbing works were carried out to the new-build's three bathrooms, cloakroom and the kitchen.
Testimonial
We had an air source heat pump installed on our new build two years ago and we couldn't be happier.
Kevin gave us excellent advice regarding insulation between the ground and first floors, a little more expensive to install but well worth it for the results. Careful positioning of the pump on an external wall has resulted in a quieter system than many of our previous gas boiler setups.
No radiators is an added bonus, as well as toasty floors in winter!
