AIR SOURCE
HEAT PUMPS

K.A Stripp Ltd specialise in the install of Air Source Heat Pumps.

An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as –15°C. This heat can then be distributed to radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and provide hot water in your home.

K.A Stripp Ltd is an approved installer of Ecodan air source heat pumps made by Mitsubishi Electric.

How does an Air Source Heat Pump work?

Air source heat pumps will provide 100% of your heating and hot water requirements throughout the year. They offer a cheaper alternative to ground source heat pumps.

Though they are not as efficient as ground source heat pumps, you can still expect 2.5–3.5 kilowatts of heat energy in return for every kilowatt of electricity used for powering the pump.

An air source heat pump draws heat from the air to heat your home. Because air temperature fluctuates during our winter months, so does the efficiency of this system. However, in the south east of England, we typically see temperatures of 5–7°C, which in actual fact gives high efficiency returns.

Air Source Heat Pump Advantages

  • Air source heat pumps are a good alternative for heating swimming pools due to warmer air temperatures in the summer

  • Air source heat pumps perform better in the South East of England

  • The pump itself is fitted outside, freeing up valuable indoor space

  • Switching over from oil, gas or LPG is simple with an air source heat pump

  • Maintenance is simple

  • A heat pump can make good use of electricity generated by photovoltaic panels
